The Next Inman Park Fellowship is
Sunday, November 19, 2006
6:00 pm
Have you ever deeply pondered the following passage in Luke 24:44-45?
"Then [Jesus] said to [His disciples], 'These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.' And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures."
This Sunday, we will begin a discussion utilizing excerpts of Graeme Goldsworthy's award-winning book "Preaching the Whole Bible as Christian Scripture". We will try to answer the question - How should the Old Testament be preached in today's evangelical churches? Are practical, moralistic sermons the divine intent of OT Scripture? Should we try to pattern our lives after OT saints like Joshua, Ruth, Joseph, etc.?
Hope you can come.
Let us encourage one another to always remember that God Almighty confined his infinite love in Jesus Christ and that the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior were necessary to reconcile us, sinners to our righteous and holy God. As high Priest, Jesus' perfect life of obedience to the Father is evidence that He is our perfect mediator. As the perfect sacrificial Lamb, Jesus' death was necessary to pay our sin debt in full, once and for all and declaring us righteous in the sight of God. As the resurrected Christ lives, we have an Advocate, sitting at the right hand of God the Father, and everlasting life.
